Currently the India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal are in talks with the Chinese government to extend the Qinghai Tibet Railway. As of Mar 2, 2012 no plans have been firmly established. The Chinese government have begun constructing rail infrastructure to the town of Shigatse. Only when the train to Shigatse has been finalized, approximately 2015, will the Chinese revisit further extension to Nepal's border and possibly from there to Kathmandu.
