This 10-day China Tibet tour will let you enjoy a classic China golden triangle tour which covers three hot destinations of Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai, and visit the holy Tibet on the roof of the world. Following the trip, you will get a more complete image of China, experiene its profound history, glorious civilization and modern prosperity, and get to understand the mysterious Tibetan religion and culture.

Starting from Beijing, where you will visit the landmarks of this capital city, like the Forbidden City and Summer Palace, and climb the grand Great Wall, before taking a train to Xi’an. As the ancient capital of 13 Dynasties of China, Xi’an will let you feel more about historical changes when you visit the world wonder - Terra-cotta Warriors. Then the tour will take to Lhasa, the holy Buddhist city in Tibet, to visit the magnificent Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. The last drop of this itinerary will be the modern city of Shanghai, where you will visit its highlights, like Yu Garden, French Concession, and the Bund.

Itinerary Day by Day

Day1 Arrive in Beijing

A private car will take you to your Hotel in Beijing,you could have a rest in your hotel or looking around in Beijing on your own.

Day2 Beijing Sightseeing: Forbidden City, Summer Palace

Today you will first the magnificent Forbidden City which is located in the center of Beijing and used to be the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years. In the afternoon, you will visit the fine Summer Palace. Summer Palace was an imperial summer resort of the Qing Dynasty. It is the most splendid classical garden in China.

Day3 Beijing Sightseeing: Mutianyu Great Wall

Today you will enjoy a day tour to the Great Wall (Mutianyu section). You will be taken on a group tour to the majestic Great Wall, the most famous symbol of China and one of the world’s most remarkable architectural wonders. Mutianyu Great Wall, featured “graceful”, enjoys the best quality among all Wall sections, 80km north-east of Beijing with 22 ancient watchtowers, about one every kilometer. 

After the tour, you will be drop off at the train station to board the overnight train to Xi’an.

Day4 Xian Sightseeing: Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses

The tour guide will pick you up at Xi'an Railway Station upon your arrival in the morning. Then you will enjoy a sightseeing of this ancient city, including Banpo Museum, Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. The Emperor’s Terracotta Army is one of the eight wonders in the world. These terracotta warriors and horses are the size of a real army, and were buried alongside the Emperor in a vast underground palace. The archeological site of Banpo Village, built more than 6,000 year ago, will allow you to see how the resident matriarchic tribe used to survive in the Neolithic age.

Day5 Fly to Lhasa from Xian

Today, you will take a flight to Lhasa from Xi'an. Upon your arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, your tour guide will greet you and take you to the reserved hotel. You may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River / Bhamaputra River (the Longest and largest river in Tibet) and Lhasa River on their way to Lhasa. The rest of the time is for you to take a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude.

Day6 Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B)

In the morning, you’ll pay a visit to the famous Potala Palace, the world culture heritage. You can explore its audience halls, the jeweled and golden burial chortens (stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc.

Then tourists will head to the holiest temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, built during Songtsen Ganpo's reign by princess Wencheng of Tang dynasty, 647 A.D. Here you can observe sincere pilgrims making prostration in front of Jokhang Temple. While entering inside the temple, you can see the holiest statue of Buddha. Around the monastery is the famous Barkhor Street, where you can do the kora with pilgrims and locals. And then we’ll go to explore the old market and you may have chance to see the traditional jewelry trading between people from different part of Tibet.

Day7 Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (B)

Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung Monastery, the largest monastery in Tibet, was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. Situated at the foot of Gebeiwoze Mountain, it was once home to more than 10000 monks. Here you can see the biggest monastery kitchen inside and then pay a visit to the Buddhist Sculpture Carving near Drepung.

After having lunch, you’ll continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most interesting thing is to see monks debating in the courtyard at around 3-5 in the afternoon. Besides, you can also see the colorful Rock Painting of Buddha and the three sand Mandalas and then visit the Tibetan religious text printing house.

Day8 Fly to Shanghai from Lhasa

In the morning, the tour guide will escort you to Lhasa airport and see you off. After you arrive in Shanghai, you can have your free time to take a rest or look around your hotel on your own.

Day9 Shanghai Sightseeing: Yu Garden, French Concession, the Bund

After breakfast, the local tour guide will take you to Yu Garden, a beautiful and well-contained typical Chinese garden, and savor some local flavor snacks at the Yu Garden Bazaar. Later to visit the French Concession to appreciate its old French-style villas and special colonial culture.

Then you will visit the Shanghai Old Wax Figure Museum, which is  the No.6 Madame Tussauds wax figure attraction in the world, and head to the Bund to witness Shanghai's skyline, and stroll along China's No.1 shopping street, Nanjing Road.

Day10 Depart from Shanghai

The driver will take you to airport or train station.
