Beijing West Railway Station

Beijing West Railway Station, also referred to as Beijing West in short, is one of the four major train stations in Beijing. It is located near the Lianhuachi East Road of Fengtai District, near the West 3rd Ring Road, 8 km from the Forbidden City and 36 km from the Capital International Airport. Constructed in early 1996, the station covers an area of 510,000 square meters, and is provided with 18 platforms and 20 tracks.

Tips on Taking the High Speed Train at Beijing Bullet Train Station

Taking a high speed train or bullet train is similar to taking a regular train in China. But for international tourists, especially who plan their first high speed train journey in China, there are some tips for your reference.

1. Prepare your documents when you buy or collect your high speed train ticket at the railway station. Valid passport is required for foreigners, and Meiland Travel Permit for citizens from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

2. Make clear the right station for your departure train. As there are three bullet train stations offering high speed trains in Beijing, and some popular routes like Beijing-Shanghai train will depart from different railway stations, which may cause confusion for some travelers. Therefore, passengers are advised to carefully check the ticket information before heading to the train station, otherwise you may miss the train if you go to the wrong station.

3. There are exclusive waiting rooms for high speed train passengers. You can find the right waiting room for your train following the indications on the LED screens. The LED board shows which train is allocated to which waiting room, and also the status of every train.

4. Pay attention to the arrival time of your train and avoid skipping the stop. The high speed train in China runs at an enormously fast speed, and sometimes it take quite a short time to get to your destination.
