Itinerary Day by Day

Day1 Arrive in Beijing

A private car will take you to your Hotel in Beijing,you could have a rest in your hotel or looking around in Beijing on your own.

Day2 Beijing Sightseeing: Great Wall at Badaling, Ming Tombs-Changling (B,L)

Today you will visit the majestic Great Wall (Badaling section) and the Chang Tomb of Ming Tombs. You will be taken on a group tour to the Great Wall, the most famous symbol of China and one of the world’s most remarkable architectural wonders. This section was first built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).

Then you will visit to the Ming Tomb the burial site of the emperor Wanli, the 13th emperor of the Ming Dynasty who ruled for 48 years until his death in 1620.

Day3 Beijing Sightseeing: Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace, and take train to Xian (B)

Today you will first visit the historic Tiananmen Square which is the largest city square in the world and the spiritual heart of China, and then the magnificent Forbidden City which located in the center of Beijing and used to be the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years.

In the afternoon, you will visit the fine Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven. Summer Palace was an imperial summer resort of the Qing Dynasty. it is the most splendid classical garden in China. The Temple of Heaven is a royal sacred site where prayers for good harvests, prosperity and harmonious life are offered.

In the evening you board overnight train to Xian.

Day4 Xian Sightseeing: Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses and Big Wild Goose Pagoda (B)

You will be in Xian in the morning.

Today’s sightseeing is The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, BanPo Museum, The Museum of the First Qin Emperor’s Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. You will also visit the shop of The Qin terra-cotta figures and Jades in Terra-cotta warriors Museum.

Day5 Board the train to Lhasa from Xian (B)

In the early morning, you will board the famous sky train to Lhasa in Xian train station. To start the wonderful journey of experience the highest train ride in the world. The train journey will take you about 33 hours.

Day6 Sightseeing along the railway, arrival Lhasa in the late afternoon

A full day window sightseeing along Qinghai-Tibet Railway, you will see land of snows, desert, immense grassland, ice –mountain, beautiful lakes which will strongly go to your heart.

Arrive in Lhasa in the afternoon. You are warmly welcome to Tibet by saying Tashi Delek at the Train station by our professional employee and send you to reserved hotel in Lhasa. Then have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude in the afternoon.

Day7 Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor street (B)

Morning section to visit the famous Potala Palace and explore the grandest of this myriad chapels, you will experience its audience halls, the jeweled and Golden burial chortens(stupa Tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala etc.

Afternoon section visiting to the holist temple in Tibet, the Johkang Temple, built during songtsen gonpo's reign by princess wencheng of tang dynasty, 647 A.D, and its famous Barkor Kora, where you can buy or appreciate traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and tradition tibetan clothes etc. you will have chance to get close to appreciate how the artists draw Thangkas at the Thakangka workroom at Barkor.

Day8 Lhasa Sightseeing: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery (B)

Today, you will visit two important monasteries in Lhasa, the Drepung and the Sera. Drepung monastery is situated at the foothill of a mountain and was founded by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It was once home of 10000 monks and Ganden podrang in Drepung is famous it was the government centre during fifth dalai lama and later moved to the famous potala palace during fifth dalai lama.

Then you will visit the Carpet Factory, you can see how the world-famous Tibetan carpets are made.

After having lunch, continue to visit the Sera Monastery, which was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje. The most attractive is that Monks debiting is held there in the courtyard at around 3-5 in the afternoon section most of the time.

Day9 Lhasa to Namtso Lake (220km, 4 hours driving, asphalt road in good condition) (B)

In the morning, our guide and driver pick you up from your hotel. Then we leave Lhasa to Namtso Lake. Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges appear in front of you all the way. In summer(May to August), the sheepherders and their family move to grassland and set up their tents, you could see green grassland, groups of sheep and yaks, nomad tents by the road.

Namtso Lake is the Heavenly lake which is one of the three holy lakes of Tibet and also the highest salt lake. You can do a very relax trekking around the lake side and Tashi Island.

To spend a night at lake shore is fantastic, the night sky is so clean that you could see all the stars twinkling on the sky, so close to you as if you could stretch you hands to pick the stars. Namtso lake is actually the lake in the sky, it is about 5000m high lies on the highest plateau in the world.

Day10 Namtso to Lhasa via Yangpachen Hotspring (220km, 4hours driving) (B)

Enjoy the clear morning at the lake shore, you can trek along the lake shore to Tashi Dor Island to explore the meditation caves .Drive to Dumxung to have lunch.

In the afternoon, you may enjoy Yangpachen hot spring (Optional, hot spring fee does not included in price) on the way back to Lhasa.

Day11 Lhasa to Chongqing by Air and onboard Yangtze Cruise Ship (B)

Take a morning flight to Chongqing, where you will have a brief city tour.

you will visit the General Joseph W. Stilwell Museum, which was founded in memory of Joseph W. Stilwell, an American general who contributed a great deal to Chinese people during the World War II.

If time allows, tour guide will take you to the Panda House of Chongqing Zoo.

After that, our guide will transfer you to board the Yangtze River cruise ship, the cruise sails at around 21:00, your wonderful Yangtze cruise tour starts.

Day12 Chongqing to Fengdu by Cruise

Around 08:30, you will disembark and visit the Ghost City of Fengdu. Having nearly 2,000 years of history, Fengdu features unique culture of ghost and the afterlife, and combines traditional cultures of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.

Then embark again and the cruise continues sailing. For the rest of the day, you can stroll on the deck and enjoy the picturesque scenery along the river.

Day13 Badong (Shennong Stream) - Xiling Gorge - Sandouping

Today you will come to the Three Gorges, the highlight of Yangtze cruise tour, including Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. Among them, Wu Gorge is the most brilliant part of the Three Gorges. With range of graceful hills and rugged cliffs rising along the banks, it looks like a natural gallery of Chinese landscape paintings.

When the ship sails to the border between Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge, you will disembark for an interesting junk adventure to the Shennong Stream for three to four hours, where you will take the local special pea boat, and listen to the primitive and beautiful singings of the trackers while enjoy the enchanting scenery along the stream.

After a whole day's sailing, the ship will pass the Five Level Ship Lock of China Dam and stop at Sandouping Town.

Day14 Yichang and Yichang Departure

Your Yangtze cruise will come to the end after an excursion to the Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydropower project in the world. You will learn about the dam and the Three Gorges Water Project.

After lunch, please pack your luggage and follow the check-out procedures.

Afterwards, our guide will take you to Yichang airport with private transfer and see you off.
