• How long is the train journey from Guangzhou to Lhasa?

  The train from Guangzhou to Lhasa (No. Z264) runs through a total length of 4980 km, and will take about 53 hours to reach the roof of the world. It departs at 11:40 am from Guangzhou Railway Station and arrives at 16:45 pm at Lhasa Railway Station on the third day. Taking this train, you will experience the longest train journey from mainland China to Tibet, passing through some major cities such as Changsha, Wuchang, Xi’an and Lanzhou. In the late afternoon of the second day, the train will arrive in Xining city, from where you will start to experience the notable Qinghai-Tibet Railway.   Currently, there is no high speed train directly running to Tibet from Mainland. The high speed train from Guangzhou to Chengdu departs more than ten times every day from Guangzhou Railway Station, and will only take about 10 hours to reach Chengdu, the adjacent city to Tibet. From Chengdu, the Tibet train will run another 36 hours to reach Lhasa. In this way, you can enjoy a high speed train ride and Tibet train journey in just one go, with no detour en route.
