  • How long does it take from Hong Kong to Lhasa by train?

    The train journey from Hong Kong to Lhasa includes two parts. The first part is from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and the second from Guangzhou to Lhasa. The Guangzhou-Kowloon through train leaves more than 10 times per day from Hung Hom Kowloon and only takes 2 hours to get to Guangzhou East Railway Station. And the train from Guangzhou to Lhasa departs daily at 11:40 from Guangzhou East and arrives at Lhasa Railway Station at 16:45, after running for around 53 hours. Theoretically, tourists need to spend at least 55 hours on the train ride from Hong Kong to Lhasa. But, the total travel time will be much longer as you will have a stopover in Guangzhou to wait for the train to Lhasa. Therefore, it is recommended to reserve enough time before your scheduled tour date in Tibet.

  • How to book a Hong Kong Tibet train ticket?

    If you plan to take a train to Tibet from Hong Kong via Guangzhou, you need to book the tickets separately for the train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou and the Tibet train from Guangzhou to Lhasa. To transfer from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, you can book the train ticket online or at Hung Hom Railway Station. As to the train ticket from Guangzhou to Lhasa, the most convenient way is to book the Tibet train ticket online.
