About 1.5 hours’ direct flight from Kathmandu, Lhasa concentrates the most significant monasteries and the most extinguished architecture of Tibetan plateau. During this tour, you can explore the winter and the summer palace of Dalai Lama: Potala Palace and Norbulingka, visit Jokhang Temple, Drepung and Sera Monastery, and stroll on Barkhor Street to experience the authentic life of local Tibetans and pilgrims. What’s more, you will go to Ganden Monastery which is about 60km away from the prosperous Lhasa City to admire the grandeur building complex and appreciate the panoramic view of Lhasa Valley during the Ganden trekking.
Itinerary Day by Day
Day 1: Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa
When you arrive in Lhasa, your tour guide will hold a board with your name on it at the exit to welcome you. A private car will take you to the reserved hotel. You may view the Yarlung Tsangpo River/Bhamaputra River (the longest and largest river in Tibet) and Lhasa River on the way from airport to Lhasa. Then, you can take a good rest at hotel to acclimatize to Tibetan plateau environment.

Day 2: Lhasa Sightseeing: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B)
Today, you’ll pay a visit to the famous Potala Palace, the world culture heritage. You can explore its audience halls, the jeweled and golden burial chortens (stupa tombs) of past Dalai Lamas, and tremendous number of Buddhist frescoes, thangkas, combinations of mandala, etc.
Then you will head to the holiest temple in Tibet, the Jokhang Temple, built during Songtsen Ganpo's reign by Princess Wencheng of Tang dynasty, 647 A.D. Here you can observe sincere pilgrims making prostration in front of Jokhang Temple. While entering inside the temple, you can see the holiest statue of Buddha. Around the monastery is the famous Barkhor Street, where you can do the kora with pilgrims and locals.

Day 3: Lhasa Sightseeing: Norbulingka Palace, Tibet Museum, and Sera Monastery (B)
In the morning, you will visit Norbulingka Palace, the summer palace of Dalai Lama. Built by the 7th Dalai Lama and served both as administrative centre and religious centre, Norbulingka is a unique representation of Tibetan palace architecture and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then you will visit Tibet Museum near Norbulingka Palace, which can provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the development of Tibetan culture, religion, and history.
After lunch, you will visit Sera Monastery, one of the “Great Three” Gelug monasteries in Tibet. It was founded in 1419 by Tsongkapa's disciple Jamchen Choeje, and the highlight of this monastery is the monk debate around 3-5pm.

Day 4: Ganden Monastery (B)
Today you will take car ride to Ganden Monastery about 60 kilometers northeast of Lhasa. As one of the "Great Three" Gelugpa monasteries of Tibet, it was founded by Great Tsongkhapa in 1409. On the way, you can appreciate the beautiful view of Kyichu River. While driving up to Ganden along winding mountain road, you can catch the far view of splendid monastery complex on the top of the mountain.
You can also trek Lingkor (circuit/kora) around the monastery, pay a visit to the Great Tsongkapa’s meditation cave and the tomb of Tsongkhapa, the founder of Gelupa order, and enjoy the stunning view of Lhasa Valley.

Day 5: Depart from Lhasa (B)
Your guide will pick you up at hotel and drop you off at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport on time.
