Chengdu-Lhasa and Chongqing-Lhasa Train: Schedule Change Effective May 17, 2016

From May 15, 2016, a new China national railway diagram will go into effect, which will be the biggest adjustment of train operation schedule for nearly 10 years in China. And there will be the most changes in the schedule of the Chengdu-Lhasa train and the Chongqing-Lhasa train.

1. Changes of Train Number

The former number of Chengdu-Lhasa train was T22, and it will be changed into Z322 after May 17. The return train from Lhasa to Chengdu will get a new Train number as Z324.

The number of Chongqing to Lhasa train will be change from T223 to Z223, and the number of the return train from Lhasa to Chongqing will be changed into Z224, instead of T224.

2. Changes of Departure Time

Both of the Chengdu to Lhasa Train and the Chongqing to Lhasa Train will bring departure time forward from night to early afternoon.

The newly Z322 train from Chengdu to Lhasa will depart from Chengdu Railway Station on 14:48, and the Z223 train from Chongqing to Lhasa will depart from Chongqing North Railway station on 15:42.

3. Changes of the Departure Dates

The departure dates of the train to Lhasa from Chengdu and Chongqing will remain the same. However, the departure of the return train from Lhasa to Chengdu and Chongqing will have some changes as below. 4. Changes of the Chongqing-Lhasa Train Route

Among all the trains to Tibet, Chongqing-Lhasa train has the biggest change of the route. The former Tibet train from/to Chongqing made a stopover in Xi’an. According to the new schedule, Chongqing-Lhasa train will make a stopover at Nanchong Nor Railway Station and Guangyuan Railway Station, and cancel the stop at Xian Railway Station, and also Guang’an stop and Dazhou Stop.

The new route of Chongqing-Lhasa train will go into effect on May 17, 2016.

In this situation, the total distance of Chongqing-Lhasa train will be shorter than before, so the length of the train journey from Chongqing to Lhasa will be reduced from 44 hours t o 42 hours 12 minutes.
